• Size: Posters should not exceed 36 inches high by 28 inches wide.
  • Material: Posters should be printed on paper that can be tacked to a core board. Do NOT pre-mount your poster on foam core, you will be provided with pins to secure your poster to board at the event.
  • Visibility: All lettering and diagrams should be large enough to be read from a minimum of 6 feet (~2 meters) away. The main title of the poster should be 60-point bold, centered in Arial font, keeping a maximum of 3 lines. Author names and affiliations should be in 40-point centered Arial font below the title. Present text in small sections broken by subheadings such as abstract, introduction and background, methodology, data and results, conclusions and future work, acknowledgments, and references. Subheadings should be in 36-point bold Arial font. The body of the text should be 28-point Arial font.
  • Logos: The conference’s logo should be kept on the poster as seen in the template, the author is free to provide affiliated logos from industry partnerships who are supporting the research project, as well as their university logo. The main logo is designated to the research center or university that the student is affiliated with.
  • Layout: Posters should be formatted in a manner that can be easily understood. Posters should contain all the essential information but should not be cluttered with unnecessary details. Each figure and table should be numbered and have a brief description. This description should be kept at 24-point italic Arial font. The figures and tables should be large enough to attract attention from afar but do not exceed the margins of the text.

Poster Arrangement
It is very important to plan carefully and organize for the optimum use of the poster space. Subdivision into sections may be helpful. Comprehension of the poster will be facilitated by mounting all sections in the assigned vertical columns. There is no obligation to fill the entire space. You have freedom to resize the body of the text, and you can rename the subheadings provided in the poster template. At the same time, do not mount a complete manuscript that may take 30 minutes to read! A good rule of thumb is 50% text, 50% graphics and photos.

Tip: Do not try to provide too much information. An overloaded poster rarely attracts attention. Our suggestion is to display only short sentences or a list of sentences (or phrases) under each heading preceded by bullets or numbers to describe the work. Remember, you will be there to provide further information to delegates.

Attendance at the Poster Session
The main presenter of the poster must be present during the poster session to present and discuss their work. For posters with multiple authors, only one author needs to be present during the session, but co-authors can be present. If the main presenter is unable to be present at their poster during the time assigned, they should arrange for their poster to be staffed by a person familiar with their work.

Mini Lectures
The poster session is much more than a question-answer session. It should retain all the good points of the oral session as well as provide an opportunity for individuals to ask specific questions. In this regard, we urge you to prepare a short (3-5 minutes) oral summary (mini-lecture) of your poster and give these mini-lectures to the audience attending the poster session. This will enable them to understand your work and encourage them to ask specific questions. You should not anticipate the audience knowing your research work and immediately asking questions. Please prepare mini-lectures and deliver when appropriate.

Suggestion to Authors
Remember this poster session is also meant to be a networking session with different companies present during the conference. Give a good first impression by dressing in business casual attire. You are allowed to bring business cards to distribute among attendees (but it is not required).

Mounting and Removal of Poster
The authors are to arrive at least half an hour (30 minutes) before the poster session starts. Carefully arrange your posters beforehand; 15 minutes should be ample time to mount your posters on your designated easel or poster board. It is the author's responsibility to remove all the posters and clean the area before they leave (and within 15 minutes after the scheduled session closing time).

Concluding Remarks
Well-organized and well-prepared poster sessions offer a better way than paper sessions to develop personal contacts in specialized fields as well as accommodate a large number of topics in one session. It is hoped that the general suggestions presented here will leave enough freedom to the authors for individual and imaginative layout of their posters, yet provide the necessary information required for rapid and efficient transfer of information to the audience.
